We are seeking a strong experienced Mechanical Engineer (AEC/MEP) with leadership capability to lead our combined Baltimore and Washington, DC area Mechanical Engineering Departments and supporting the function enterprise-wide.Primary responsibilities will include:* Serve as an engineering leader and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering staff. * Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by. * Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects. * Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff. * Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors. * Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally * Perform department management activities including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership
Requirements for this position include: * 10 plus years' experience in mechanical design* Team supervisory experience* Bachelor's degree mechanical engineering and PE license required * Strong technical writer * Strong knowledge of building codes* Strong interpersonal skills* Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment with the ability to work individually or as part of a team.* Knowledge of Sustainable certification programs* Strong software skills including RevitAs a multi-discipline engineering firm, Bala is a leader in innovative designs for building systems in High Rise, Mission Critical, Multi-Unit Housing, Commercial Office, Higher Education, Transportation, Adaptive Reuse and Life Science facilities.
